Timber Framing Workshops
Building better carpenters through
hands-on learning.
My goal is to help you elevate your craft - whether you’re a homesteader cutting your first DIY frame, an established professional picking up a specialized skillset, or somewhere in between. I love what I do and am passionate about helping folks at any point in their carpentry journey.

Workshops for Beginners
During a time when construction is prohibitively expensive, timber framing is an accessible way to build using simple tools and local, natural materials. I teach the basics of laying out timbers and using hand tools to cut a simple frame that we raise together at the culmination of a weeklong workshop. Participants leave with all the skills required to tackle a DIY project at home, and we leave behind a beautiful timber frame for a good cause.
These events are a great fit for any community organization, land project, garden, farm, or public space. Yes, I travel!
Workshops for Professional Development
I also teach classes on specific topics like compound joinery, stereotomy, and scribing with round or curved timber. These are opportunities to take a deep dive into a particular skill set within timber framing. Sometimes these classes are friendly for beginners, and sometimes prior experience is recommended.
In all cases, my teaching is tailored toward understanding your goals and making sure that you leave with useful and fun new skills to put to use.
